Website for Tony Mitton -Poet & Children's Writer

Tony and I spent two days together planning, designing and creating his website. On day one, Tony and I discussed what he wanted from his website, who his audience was and what he wanted to achieve through this project. We drew up a spider plan, exploring the pages he wished to have. We discussed the look and design of the site and experimented with different themes to achieve the 'look' he required. By the end of day one, we had a homepage and began to create the other pages that were to appear in the top tabbed menu.

Day two was spent populating some of the other main pages and achieving the 'look' and 'feel' that Tony wanted. At all times, Tony was fully involved in the buiding process.

By the end of Day two, Tony was delighted to be able to see his website live, with the Homepage and main pages completed. In this case, I then worked to populate the other pages for him.

Tony wishes to update the site himself, so aims to spend some further training time with me.

'Kate has been great! She really listened to me to get a clear idea of what I thought I wanted. Then she worked together with me, collaboratively, to build a website that is turning out to be both visually and verbally what I want it to be. She knows her system well and comes up with clever, creative suggestions for the design of the site. She's also very good at keeping in touch by email as we take the site to completion (mine is quite an ambitious site in size, though we set up the homepage and main structure of the site in just one day together!). She's a very good photographer, so can use those skills to take photos for the site. She took some great pics of me for my bio pages. I thought making a website was going to be a stressful, laborious process. With Kate it's been all fun and pleasure, yet the result is excellent. I'm thrilled with the progress so far and actually looking forward to the training day when Kate will teach me how to maintain parts of the site myself. One of the great things is Kate's flexibility. If you just want her to set up a simple, modest site and maintain it for you, then that's what she'll do. But if you want to be more involved in creation and maintenance then her personal skills are such that you'll learn fast in a pleasant way. '
